Druid tier 10 helm reskinned

You probably already noticed this, but it looks like in the last patch they re-skinned the Lasherweave helms to match the color theme of the tier set a bit better.  (251 is blue, 264 is yellow, 277 is green).  I still think the druid set is the one with the least differentiation between the three sub-tiers.  There’s only subtle differences with the chestpiece.  I think if they’d change the glow of the shoulderpads to match, it’d be a bit more obvious.

A Tier Comparison

Tonight I received my first piece of 277 gear and wasn’t sure where the biggest damage upgrade was.  I made a little chart for myself I thought I’d share with you.  For calculation purposes, I assumed 1 haste or 1 crit = .7 spellpower.

Languish by the numbers

I know there’s been some people claiming that Languish is not that much of an upgrade from 4pc T9.  The following is a screenshot of a 10man Saurfang kill I did right after getting 4pc, and you can see that it clearly is an upgrade.

Let’s assume a 60% crit rate on Moonfire, which I think is actually a little on the high side, even given [spell]Improved Moonfire[/spell].  Moonfire did 127973 damage.  If 60 percent of them crit and did double damage, 127973*1.60*1.03(meta gem) = 210899.504 damage.

Now, Languish did 108132 damage.  127973+108132=236105 damage.   That’s a 11% boost in damage over 2PC T9, and that’s giving Moonfire a very generous crit rate.  Giving a 55 percent crit rate, and 204308 damage, you’re looking at a 14% boost.

I don’t theorycraft often, so feel free to double check my math.

Blizzfail: Languish (4 piece bonus) currently bugged

Apparently [spell]71023[/spell] is currently set to a level 1 spell.  This is causing a 75% resist rate.  Ghostcrawler says they “can” hotfix it, but no news about when they will.

Putricide hotfixes, heroic dungeon nerfs

A few hotfixes went out for the Putricide encounter today:

  • Professor Putricide’s Tear Gas will no longer remove player auras.
  • The Growing Ooze Puddles in the Professor Putricide encounter will no longer continue to grow while players are stunned.

A few heroic dungeons were also nerfed to allow faster clears.

On a side note, the 2 piece Balance T10 proc is called [spell]70721[/spell].  Doing 20k+ Starfires and 14k+ wraths is pretty neat.

Impressions of Icecrown Citadel: 25 man

This week was my first week raiding 25man Icecrown Citadel with my guild, as I was stuck in a foreign airport last week. I must say, while it’s a breath of fresh air to get out of Trial of the Crusader, I am not very impressed.

As of today, one week since the launch, 19 guilds on Sargeras (US) have killed the first four bosses. If the level of difficulty does not ramp up in the further wings (and I hope to god it does), we’re looking at multitudes of guilds killing Lich King within the first few weeks. I know that Blizzard wants to make content more available to the casual player, but come on. Really?

I will most likely be posting information on Lady Deathwhisper next week, once I get a little more familiar with how we do the fight.

On the other hand, I did end up picking up [item]50457[/item] with badges today. Having a 100% uptime on the idol is quite nice. I’ve also noticed a much higher upswing in my DPS in Icecrown, as the fights are less gimmicky. I came in 5th in damage for Saurfang. I also picked up [item]49996[/item], which I’m trying out. The only downside to using this is that I have to use the Tier 9.45 shoulders, which are much weaker then the shoulders that drop from 10man TotGC, [item]47996[/item]. I was able to bring my haste down to about haste cap, and gain almost 90 spellpower, but my crit rating suffered slightly as well. About a quarter of a percent. I’m not convinced this is the best route, so I’m going to test it.

Either way, though, it will not last long. I managed to pick up [item]52025[/item] tonight as well, and plan on using it for the Tier 10 shoulders, [item]51147[/item] as that will allow me to use the four strongest pieces of Tier 9.45 as well as a piece of tier 10. They outclass the Glacial Wilds by a longshot.

What are your opinions of 25man ICC? Is it easier then what you expected?

Additional 3.3 balance change: Tier 10 4pc bonus

I don’t know if I missed this in my rage over the nerfing of Tier 8/WiseEclipse, but the following change was also included in the most recent PTR patch:

  • Item – Druid T10 Balance 4P Bonus – Your critical strikes from Starfire and Wrath cause the target languish for an additional 7% of your spell’s damage over 4 sec. (Up from 5%)

What do you guys think of the buff?

Tier 10 stats released!

Thanks to our friends at MMO Champion, the stats for the first two sets of Tier 10 (item level 251 and item level 264) have been released.  This looks to be the 10man and 25man (non hardmode) sets.  The 25man hardmode set will be item level 277.

I have yet to compare the sets to the other classes, however it does look fairly well itemized.  As Balourd commented earlier, only two pieces have hit, and there is no spirit, allowing for both haste AND crit to be on the other 3 pieces.  Both hit pieces (gloves and legs) also have a decent amount of crit on them as well.

Tier 10 Balance Relic Released

According to MMO-Champion, the following is the Tier 10 balance relic:

The periodic damage from your Insect Swarm and Moonfire spells grants 44 critical strike rating for 15 sec. Stacks up to 5 times.

I hope I’m not the only one not impressed by this.  This allows IS and MF to grant 220 critical strike rating, versus the current T9 idol which allows MF to grant 200 critical strike rating.

I realize adding insect swarm to the mix allows for some versatility, but this hardly seems worth an upgrade, especially if you have to spend badges for it.

Tier 10 Armor Preview and Set Bonuses

Thanks to our friends at MMO-Champion, the Tier 10 Armor has been data-mined, and set bonuses have been discovered (although the data mine doesn’t seem to be perfect for all the set bonuses… the intent is there).

First, the tier gear.  Click on the image for full size:

To be honest, I’m not sure what I think of it yet.  It’s definitely… different.  The shoulders remind me of venus fly traps on steroids.

And now onto the set bonuses:

The 2 piece bonus looks like an interesting new take on things, and with as often as Omen of Clarity procs, I think this could be a nice sustained DPS upgrade.  (And a great boost to Hurricane damage as well).   It looks like they responded to the feedback from balance druids and have updated the 4 piece bonus.  This one looks interesting.  On a 15,000 Starfire crit, you’re looking at 750 extra damage, and on a 10,000 wrath crit you’re looking at 500.  I’ll have to theorycraft it later to see how the exact numbers work out for a DPS value.

FYI, here’s the restoration and feral bonuses.

  • Item – Druid T10 Feral 2P Bonus – Your Swipe (Bear) and Lacerate abilities deal 20% additional damage and the cost of your Rip ability is reduced by 10 energy.
  • Item – Druid T10 Feral 4P Bonus – Your Enrage ability no longer decreases your armor and instead decreases all damage taken by 12%, and the periodic damage done by your Rake ability can now be a critical strike.

The feral bonuses both intrigue me.  I think they’ll be quite the buff for tanking as well as DPS.  The resto balances also seem pretty interesting as well.  While I’m not sure what the actual reduction will be on the Wild Growth decay, it will be a pretty big boost to the spell, and the chain rejuvenation seems neat.

EDIT: Updated the Balance bonuses.  Damage was increased from 10% to 15% for 2pc, and 4pc bonus was revamped completely.
