The Moonkin Shall Ride!

by on May.05, 2012, under Mists of Pandaria

My apologies for a late post on this, but I have been traveling the last few days and unable to get decent enough internet to update beta on my laptop.

Along with account-wide mounts, Blizzard has deemed fit to allow the moonkin to mount up in form!

Plan on looking silly (or like a vampire) for awhile more..

by on Apr.02, 2012, under Mists of Pandaria

This is from Wryxian on the EU forums:

We want to clarify a bit more about the Moonkin model update being “in the schedule.” Essentially this means that though it is on the way, it is not currently intended to be ready for the launch of Mists of Pandaria.

Time for more sad panda.

Mounting from Moonkin Form

by on Nov.24, 2010, under Cataclysm, General

There’s currently a bug or a “feature” that prevents mounting directly from moonkin form.

To circumvent this, a simple macro may be used.  Here’s the one I use:

#showtooltip
/cancelaura Moonkin Form
/cast Crusader’s Black Warhorse

Cataclysm Dev Chat: Moonkin Form

by on Nov.18, 2010, under Cataclysm

In the Dev Chat, the following question was posed:

Is the Moonkin form for troll and worgen on the beta and ptr the final form or is it just a placeholder?

The very brief answer:

Final!

I hope to god this is a joke.  This is really pathetic if once again, Blizzard manages to re-work out for every other shapeshift (including one that is on a 3 minute cooldown), but can’t be bothered to re-work the NEW moonkin form, let alone the legacy forms.

Moonkin PVP: Sheep Invincibility Protected?

by on Oct.06, 2010, under Cataclysm, PVP Discussion

There’s been a lot of talk about the fact that resto druids will be sheep-able in Cataclysm.  This is due to the fact that they’re not in a shapeshift form, and while shapeshift forms still protect against polymorph, the act of shapeshifting does not break polymorph effects.

Example, Bear Form:

Shapeshift into bear form, increasing melee attack power by 30, armor contribution from cloth and leather items by (cond($lt(level, 40), 65, 120))%, and Stamina by 25%.  Causes agility to increase attack power.  Also protects the caster from Polymorph effects and allows the use of various bear abilities.

The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Movement Impairing effects.

(If you’re wondering about the equation in there, it looks like Dire Bear Form was removed, but at level 40, Bear Form gives 120% armor boost instead of 65%, mimicking Dire Bear Form.)

Now, let’s look at Moonkin Form:

Shapeshift into Moonkin Form. While in this form your Arcane and Nature spell damage is increased by 10%, the armor contribution from items is increased by 120%, and grants 5% spell haste to all nearby friendly and raid targets within 100 yards.  The Moonkin can not cast healing or resurrection spells while shapeshifted.

The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects.

Why is this good?  If for some reason you must leave Moonkin Form to heal yourself, tranquility, etc, you do not need to fear getting sheeped, as you can still break it by shifting into Moonkin Form.

UPDATE: I’ve had a chance to test this and it seems moonkin form currently does not break polymorph.

Moonkin: Now the haste-chicken?

by on Aug.02, 2010, under Cataclysm

Sorry for my late posts, I’m trying to catch up on a lot of old things as well as move IRL.

The latest data-mine from MMO-Champion shows a lot of changes to the balance tree, including a change in a core change in Moonkin form, now causing it to grant 5% spell haste instead of spell crit.  With the changes to Wrath, this may not be such a bad idea.

Balance

  • Starsurge now also generates 10 Lunar or Solar energy.
  • Wrath of Cenarius is now named Lunar Shower.
  • Lunar Guidance now generates an additional 2/4/6 Lunar or Solar Energy. (Down from 5/10/15)
  • Moonkin Form now increases spell haste by 5%. (Old – Spell crit)
  • Genesis now increases the damage and healing done by your periodic spell damage and healing effects and by Swiftmend by 2/4/6%. (Up from 1/2/3%)
  • Nature’s Grace now has a 100% proc rate for all ranks. increasing your spell casting speed by 5/10/15% for 3 sec.

Druid Q&A answers from Developer Chat

by on Feb.27, 2010, under General

Here are the druid related questions and answers from Developer Chat:

Q. Is there any ETA on tree / moonkin form graphical update?
A. Moonkin is hard because Moonkin players are so in love with that form. It’s tough to change it at all. We currently hope to do a new tree form for Cataclysm, but no promises.

Q. Has there been any thought of changing Eclipse to charges so that Moonkin dps doesn’t suffer so much from moving?
A. Yes. Expect a major overhaul in Cataclysm that keeps the same basic idea (alternating from Arcane to Nature) but in a way that is more core to the class. Like everything though, there is the risk that we may decide this idea sucks once we see it in action.

REALLY?  We love moonkin form?  REALLY?
