Just say “NO!” to Spell Queuing!

A quieter addition to 4.0.3 was the ability to customize your “lag tolerance”.  For casters, this allows you to override the annoying spell queuing that was included in 4.0.1.  To change this, go into the “Combat” section of your Interface tab, check “Custom Lag Tolerance”, and set it to 0ms.

4.0.3 Live: Balance Druid Rotation Updated

With 4.0.3 going live today, I have updated the balance druid rotation page.  You can find it in the list of pages to the right.

With Sunfire now ticking properly, you will want to cast Insect Swarm before Sunfire while in Solar Eclipse (and of course before Moonfire in Lunar Eclipse).  After extensive testing on PTRs, it looks like Sunfire on average does much more damage per tick then insect swarm, thus we’ll want that DoT to be hasted.

4.0.3 live this week! Sunfire fixed! Rejoice!

4.0.3 will go live this week, and with it, Sunfire will be ticking every 2 seconds. You can now rejoice!

4.0 Damage Breakdown

So with the fix from Sunfire on 4.3 PTR, I threw up 5 million damage to a training dummy just to see how our damage breaks down.

Primary nukes (Wrath, Starfire): 50%

DoTs (Sunfire, Insect Swarm, Moonfire): 30%

Starsurge: 10%

Starfall: 10%

Together, Moonfire & Sunfire did an impressive 18% damage, where insect swarm was roughly 12%.

Again, we will want to always cast insect swarm before sunfire/moonfire, as they do more damage per tick, and we want Sunfire/Moonfire to receive the extra haste from Nature’s Grace.  (At my haste level [40%], insect swarm will tick 13 times and moonfire/sunfire tick 15 times, per cast.)

4.0.3: Sunfire is FINALLY fixed!

Although the PTR servers are rather buggy at the moment, I was able to get on and try out our rotation.  I’m happy to report that Sunfire is FINALLY fixed!

Looking over recount numbers, it looks like Sunfire does do more damage per tick then Insect Swarm, so you’ll want to use insect swarm before sunfire/moonfire on either Eclipse, to grant the haste to Sunfire/Moonfire.

New Beta Build, new Balance Changes!

  • Moonfury now also affects Starsurge.
  • Cyclone now has a 1.7 sec cast time, down from 2 sec.
  • Starfire now costs 11% of base mana, down from 16%. Cast time changed to 3.2 sec, down from 3.5 sec.
  • Entangling Roots now has a 1.7 sec cast time, down from 2 sec.
  • Thorns damage reduced by 66%, now deals [ 16.8% of Spell Power + 178.58 ] or [ 16.8% of AP + 178.58 ] depending on the highest.
  • Moonfire base additional damage increased by 50%.
  • Wrath now costs 9% of base mana, down from 14%.
  • Euphoria now restores 8/16% (up from 6/12%) mana when you reach a Solar or Lunar eclipse.
  • Besides the thorns nerf, this looks pretty amazing.

    Troll Druids available pre-Cataclysm release!

    Zarhym posted in response to forum questions that new class combinations, such as Troll Druids, will be available after The Shattering, which will happen shortly before the Cataclysm.

    Get your $25 to race change ready!

    Will the new Race/class combinations (not Worgen/ Goblin), be available prior to Cataclysm? Or do you have to have a Cataclysm account to create an Orc mage or a Troll Druid?


    They will be available to everyone shortly before the release of Cataclysm when The Shattering takes place.
