Nibelung nerfed?

by on Feb.02, 2010, under General

After speaking to multiple people of multiple classes, it appears Blizzard nerfed the proc rate of [item]Nibelung[/item].  I may go back to my MH/OH combination now.

UPDATE:  It appears Blizzard did apply a “stealth nerf” to Nibelung.  From what I’ve been able to gather, it only procs on direct damage dealing spells now, and no other abilities.  This means it no longer procs on [spell]Languish[/spell], [spell]Earth and Moon[/spell], [item]Glyph of Starfall[/item], etc.  It apparently does not proc on [spell]Starfall[/spell] anymore either.

UPDATE:  Ghostcrawler responded to a question regarding Nibelung’s proc rate here, stating they did not intend to change the proc rate of Nibelung in 3.3.2.  Hopefully they’ll revert whatever happened to it.

UPDATE:  Bornakk posts that a hotfix to Nibelung is in the works, which will increase it’s proc chance to 2% and make it heal itself for 25% of the damage done it’s total health every time it casts.  Still not overtly impressive, and still doesn’t address why there was a change to the proc mechanic.

UPDATE: Bornakk clarifies here about the change to the proc rate, and confirms it was done intentionally to prevent other abilities from causing a proc.  He still calls it a buff, however when we go to 3%-4% proc chance to 2%, I don’t see that as a buff.

Patch 3.3.2 released Tuesday

by on Jan.31, 2010, under General

Patch 3.3.2 should be released Tuesday.  Included in it will be the final wing of Icecrown (but most likely not The Lich King himself).  In addition, [spell]Earth and Moon[/spell] is going to be buffed to 2%/4%/6% self damage.  Hopefully they’ll add the [spell]Languish[/spell] hotfix in as well.  For you PVPers, Season 8 will be released (And the final wing of Vault of Archavon.  Go get your free 264 tier pieces!)

Lich King potentially not available next week

by on Jan.26, 2010, under General

I have sources outside of MMO Champion that are reporting that the Lich King will not be available next week when 3.3.2 goes live, and only Dreamwalker and Sindragosa will be available.  We may have to wait another 2 weeks for the Lich King (and then another week for heroics).  Heroics will utilize the same raid ID as the normal raid, so you won’t be able to do both, unlike Trial of the Crusader.

3.3.2 not live this week

by on Jan.26, 2010, under General

MMO Champion reports that 3.3.2 will not be live this week.  This means Season 8 won’t start for another week, and they may push the Lich King off a week past that.

The korean patch notes for 3.3.2 confirm that the following change will be live in 3.3.2:

  • Earth and Moon: This talent now increases your spell damage by 2/4/6% (Up from 1/2/3%)

It’s a shame we won’t get it this week.  MMO Champion is usually not wrong.  Hopefully this time they will be?

Breaking News: Earth & Moon scheduled to be buffed

by on Jan.13, 2010, under General

Blues announced today that while no major changes to Balance druids will occur in 3.3.2 due to large changes require much more play testing before going live, and are not suitable for minor patches, they DID announce that they plan on increasing the passive damage of [spell]Earth and Moon[/spell] to 2/4/6% from 1/2/3%.  This will be a nice buff, and will help replace the 4pc T9 bonus when we break it for the 2pc T10.

At least they’re (sort of) listening.
