i love it ty mate!

Great BiS guide here, SF. Looking forward to the hours of farming!
November 26th, 2010 on 8:49 pm
What’s the correct off-hand you reckon?
November 26th, 2010 on 11:48 pm
I’ve updated the list. I was pretty tired when I created it. It now lists a proper offhand.
November 27th, 2010 on 11:11 am
it may have been my fault that the relic was listed as an offhand. i am indeed a derp.
November 27th, 2010 on 11:38 am
It is indeed your fault. I should proofread things people tell me a bit closer from now on.
November 28th, 2010 on 2:55 am
have you noticed the 75 hit from enchantings ( Chest and Pants)?
sry for my broken english
November 28th, 2010 on 6:34 am
I haven’t, but there’s probably much better enchants to be using on chest and legs besides hit, considering how much hit we find elsewhere.
November 28th, 2010 on 8:11 am
chest : 20 to all stats .. = 20 hit
legs 90int ( dont know for sure) und 55 spirit = 55 hit
November 28th, 2010 on 8:13 am
Didn’t think of that. It won’t be enough to drop hit on a piece but it’ll allow us to reforge.
November 28th, 2010 on 5:41 pm
Hey Sunfyre,
I had a few suggestions for the list.
The first one:
http://www.wowhead.com/item=56290 instead of Anhuur’s Hymnal as a trinket since spirit is a bit better then hit (for out of combat regen) and the cooldowns should give the same dps and this one has the advantage of being able to time the secondary effect.
The second one:
The epic items from professions and the easy obtainable epics such as the engineering goggles, the archaelogy ring and weapon, the necklace from the wildhammer clan and the darkmoon card (for the people with a lot of money).
November 28th, 2010 on 5:45 pm
Unless they changed the ICD strategy in Cataclysm, most trinkets have a 45 second ICD. I’ve not shown the Archaeology items just because it seems they will be to random to try to reliably achieve.
November 28th, 2010 on 7:33 pm
How about http://www.wowhead.com/item=62047 for one of the trinkets? It might not be the easiest to get but it looks really nice.
November 28th, 2010 on 7:49 pm
The ~1900 spellpower is nice, yes, however mastery really sucks for us. I’d reforge it to haste.
December 1st, 2010 on 7:08 am
Imo http://www.wowhead.com/item=62352 is a better choice than http://www.wowhead.com/?item=56333. Same exact stats but much easier to acquire.
December 1st, 2010 on 7:10 am
That depends if you get the other ring to drop on your first run or not. It’s stats are the same, yes, but it doesn’t make it a “better choice” per se. As I said earlier there are a billion ways to skin a cat in early Cataclysm to achieve our goals, especially since we can use both DPS and healing offset pieces.
December 3rd, 2010 on 2:06 pm
Great list, Its worth mentioning that all this gear is on the resto BiS lists. Just a plus for those of us with a resto offspec.
Also, i’m assuming you’ve seen this but it might be useful for anyone who might have missed it on EJ:

December 6th, 2010 on 4:02 am
This list is useless, what do you want with spirit? its the worst stat other than hit when your capped.
December 6th, 2010 on 8:30 am
Uhh.. because this spirit GIVES you the hit cap? Learn your class.
December 8th, 2010 on 6:01 pm
Just wondered if u noticed that the legs u posted is drop and not from justice points…
December 9th, 2010 on 1:11 am
Soul releaser from Halls?? way better then the OH and dagger?
December 10th, 2010 on 3:01 am
I don’t think so. You forget you can put +100 Intellect on an offhand.
December 9th, 2010 on 10:49 am
Just wondering why you have the dagger listed as the regular dungeon and not the heroic? cant view the item at work to see if u linked the heroic or not but was just wondering.
December 10th, 2010 on 3:00 am
It’s the heroic one. I guess I should add ‘Heroic’ before The Vortex Pinnacle.
December 11th, 2010 on 2:00 am
I am not sure if you wanted to add this in but hellscreams reach has a hit trinket that is pretty good (150-155 commendations + exalted, not 100% sure on the amount).
http://www.wowhead.com/item=62465
December 12th, 2010 on 4:50 am
If I’m not mistaken the Blazewing’s Furious Kilt
http://www.wowhead.com/item=67236/blazewings-furious-kilt
is just another model of the Legging’s of Path (although those are heroic). Am I right in saying that the prior would be easier to attain if you just had a little bit of gold (there are a few on the AH’)?
December 12th, 2010 on 11:00 am
Revered Earthen Ring pants http://www.wowhead.com/item=62358 are a bit better for balance, same amount of stats, but crit instead of mastery, both yellow sockets, and +int socket bonus. Very nice, as revered with Earthen Ring is only an instance run or two away after Deepholm.
December 12th, 2010 on 2:23 pm
Thanks for all your input. I’ve made some changes based on new things I’ve found and input here.
December 12th, 2010 on 7:29 pm
A quick point out to you sunfyre your BIS legs is actually a cloak link.
Also on a side note, Is it possible to use the following pieces instead of the ones you have listed or would these changes put us under the hitcap? thanks.
http://www.wowhead.com/item=57872 MH
http://www.wowhead.com/item=63471 Chestpiece
December 12th, 2010 on 9:41 pm
Thanks for that catch. I made a typo when I put in the itemnumber for the legs.
As for that MH and Chestpiece, sure. I’m not so concerned about the hitcap now as you can reforge around it and make whatever numbers you need.
December 13th, 2010 on 2:24 am
How do you rate [Darkmoon Card: Volcano] over your current trinkets if we gemmed and/or enchanted for hit? For e.g. using the Inscription Hit offhand and/or relic?
I haven’t found much on that card, but I’m only a the Ace and Seven away from the card itself
December 13th, 2010 on 2:28 am
The Darkmoon Card is definitely nice, but I’ve never been a fan of the price attached to them.
December 14th, 2010 on 3:30 pm
I was all set to say that the [Darkmoon Card: Volcano] isn’t worth it for balance druids, just because mastery isn’t that great for us, but the more I think about it, the more I like that trinket just because of the proc. Even if it only procs about once a minute, that’s 20 dps from the fire alone and an average of 320 int. That’s more than the base int on the Witching Hourglass.
In your case specifically, I think I would probably use it instead of Witching Hourglass, but not instead of Stump of Time. It would probably cost over 10,000g to make the card from scratch so I’m glad that it wasn’t mentioned here alongside vendor-bought stuff, but I think it’s probably worth it if you already have most of the parts of the deck anyway.
December 13th, 2010 on 5:01 am
I have to add that Book of the Well Sung Song from heroic Deadmines is better than Tattooed Eyeball. It gives more haste than crit.
December 15th, 2010 on 2:47 pm
You should also add what stats to reforge in each item, that would be really helpful.
December 18th, 2010 on 12:19 am
Found another possible mis-match on BiS chest…
[Vest of the Curious Visitor]
Over vendor chest, it gives:
+10 haste, +172 crit, -202 spirit
Although I am gemming for spirit where I can to reach hitcap. Anyone feel it might be worth the extra crit / haste? Curious to know how you guys feel…
December 18th, 2010 on 12:35 am
I think gemming for a secondary stat is an absolutely horrible idea when you could be putting intellect gems in places.
There’s plenty of ways to get hit cap, but you should be reforging and double dipping spirit/hit whenever possible on a piece of gear. The chestpiece has a ton of hit on it and that’s the most important stat to reach. That being said, I have the chestpiece you linked, but I had to reforge a ton of other gear to make hit cap.
December 19th, 2010 on 4:44 am
Really nice list. I have the Engineering Helmet and http://www.wowhead.com/item=56312 at the moment. Dagger is better when I reforge to spirit a bit I guess?
December 19th, 2010 on 7:54 am
On weapons: I think the one from Setesh is better since it has a bit more haste and spirit instead of crit: http://wowhead.com/item=57872
(If you have enough spirit you can always reforge to crit, so unless you have a lot of spirit/hit, spirit is always better than crit)
December 27th, 2010 on 12:40 am
Why are 2h weapons not a good option? I have looked at the
stats and they seem to be on par or superior to that of the MH/OH
combos? There is a enchant that can also a chance to add +500 int,
which is better than the +100 int enchant for one-handed weapons.
Thanks, Scott
December 27th, 2010 on 1:52 am
That 500 int enchant works on one handed weapons too… Thats why.
December 27th, 2010 on 10:06 am
Thanks Sunfyre,
But I am still confused in that when I add up the stats of a MH/OH against the staff I have – the staff has better stats, so what I am missing? Is there a speed component, or other criteria that I am not thinking of?
Thanks again,
Scott
December 27th, 2010 on 11:14 am
Well, let’s compare the mace off Cho’gall and offhand from Halfus to the Dwarven Archaeology staff.
The staff has 1955 spellpower, 341 int, and 228 haste, 228 crit.
The hammer has 1954 spellpower, 146 int, 97 haste and 97 crit.
We’ll ignore Power Torrent because both weapons could equally have them.
The offhand has 190 intellect, 127 hit, 127 haste, plus a 100 intellect enchant.
The hit is synonymous with crit, due to reforging. You could also ideally make it haste other places (on items that have hit/haste), which is even more powerful then reforging crit.
So you’re talking 224 haste and 224 (crit/hit) on the mainhand and offhand, and 436 intellect versus 341 intellect. Due to our scaling with intellect between Mark of the Wild, Leather Specialization, and Heart of the Wild, that’s a difference of 111 spell power between the two.
You have to remember that we scale from both the spellpower and the intellect on a weapon, and the intellect scales better due to the percentage stat modifiers we get (Int * 1.06 * 1.05 * 1.05).
December 27th, 2010 on 12:29 pm
Thanks so much. I did not account for the +100 int enchant that can be added to the OH. When I did the math of my current weapon (Soul releaser – staff) versus the ones you had recommended above it was only a small difference in favor of the staff (+8 to stam, +5 to int, +4 to spirit and haste) so was having a hard time seeing why it was not viable. But if you add another +100 int to it that makes a big difference.
P.S. I am just starting to do heroics and need to still aquire a number of items to round out my set.
P.S.S. I am on Cenarius and my character is Bunbury, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
December 27th, 2010 on 12:53 pm
I would definately try to put Hurricane on your weapon ASAP. Are you having mana issues? In a raid setting you will want as much mana conservation so you can pass off your innervates to healers.
December 27th, 2010 on 1:22 pm
My issues are more with my dps. In the few heroics I have run I am around 5k-6k dps, which seems low given my gear. As for raiding, our guild is planning to start raiding again next Tues 1/4 and so I am hoping to figure out my dps and get some better gear before then. I know my trinkets are lame and I could use a few other pieces, which is why I was asking about the staff versus MH/OH.
As for mana, I have not really run into too many issues with it so far, did go OOM on one boss fight but that was about it.
When you suggested Hurricane enchant, did you mean on the current staff? I have enough JPs to buy the OH but wanted to find out more before doing so and/or wait until I get a good MH to use.
Thanks again!!
December 27th, 2010 on 1:29 pm
Hurricane isn’t TOO expensive. The OH is good as well, so if you find a MH that’d be great.
Are you looking at DPS on boss fights or on trash? It’s hard to measure on trash. Are you using all of your cooldowns? (Starfall, Force of Nature, etc).
December 27th, 2010 on 2:32 pm
My reference was for boss fights (specifically in HoO).
One thing is that I have not been using starfall at all on boss fights, as I thought it was more suited to packs of mobs versus a boss. I do try to use force of nature and most of the other cooldowns.
The rotation I starting with moonfire, then IS then fairy fire. Then I move to starsurge to get that CD started, followed by whichever spell is closer to eclipse (either wrath or starfire) until it triggers an eclipse and then switch. I try to put back up dots as they fall off and use starsurge whenever it is off cooldown or becomes instant.
My character screen says I have enough spell hit to not miss on bosses, but maybe that is wrong.
December 27th, 2010 on 2:59 pm
Starfall is not real AoE. It has two damage values. One target, or two or more targets. It no longer splashes. It’s important to use single target. If you read my rotation you will see that you should be putting up insect swarm before moonfire or sunfire. Do not bother refreshing them. (Unless there is heavy movement.). Do not bother with faerie fire, it does nothing for you.
December 27th, 2010 on 3:04 pm
Thanks again – I have reviewed your rotation and plan to give it a try when I get home on some practice dumbies…
One follow-up question, you do reapply dots when they fall off – correct? You said not to refresh them, but I assume you mean BEFORE they wear off.
I will skip the faerie fire from now on, but when I was cat folks said to use it and so I thought I would continue even when I was in boom.
Thank you so much for all your help.
December 27th, 2010 on 3:13 pm
Faerie fire is only sunder armor and cats can apply 3 stacks at once and not waste 3 GCDs. I do NOT refresh dots as they fall off because you only have a few DoT ticks before you will need to re-apply them when you hit your next Eclipse due to the change to bonus Eclipse damage (DoTs do not automatically inherit this, you need to recast the DoT). You also have to refresh DoTs at the start of Eclipse due to Nature’s Grace.
December 27th, 2010 on 3:25 pm
AHA! So I don’t recast the dots until my next eclipse… excellent. So I am clear, I should cast them after each eclipse proc, before moving back to whatever spell is most beneficial for that phase.
Note: I had been playing a lock and it was important to get the dots back up asap to keep them always ticking.
I can’t wait to try out these changes. Any rough idea what kind of boss dps I should be doing based on my gear? I know it is probably unfair to ask as there are so many variables, but figured it doesn’t hurt. I will let you know how I do later on.
Thanks again.
December 27th, 2010 on 4:05 pm
You’re right on the rotation… As for dps… No clue.
December 27th, 2010 on 5:03 pm
Yeah it was a long shot. Can I ask how much dps you do on boss fights, knowing that each boss fight is different?
As I mentioned I was running a heroic HoO last night and the mage and lock were between 10k-12k dps, if you had been there as well what might you have been doing? As a point of reference I was under 6k and closure to 5k on most bosses.
Thanks you have been a huge help. Donation incoming!
December 27th, 2010 on 5:43 pm
I’d probably be 10-12k as well. I generally pull the same numbers as our casters. On long raid bosses I can often pass mages just because of their mana issues. Warlocks tend to be higher then me though.
December 28th, 2010 on 10:19 am
Thanks. I have 5 lvl 80′s and was playing a lock in WoLK, but our guild has way too many locks and because I really like playing feral cat while leveling so figured I would level my druid. For raiding though, I can’t be melee as I would be standing in everything and it is just too hard for me, so I switched to boom.
Thanks again for the help and I am sure my dps will approve with these insights.
December 28th, 2010 on 1:22 pm
after a quick glaze over i noticed that no one made mention of the revered-level rings from therazane which have the same stats as their heroic counterparts and are much easier (in my opinion) to obtain some of you who are having trouble with drops should consider this for a back up option “diamant’s ring of temperance” http://www.wowhead.com/item=62352
December 28th, 2010 on 1:25 pm
Try refreshing — I just added the ring about 20 minutes ago

Hey so I have heroic witching hourglass and heroic gale of shadows, but i was wondering if i got stump of time would that be better then either of the trinkets i currently have?
January 7th, 2011 on 6:03 pm
The killshades are engineering, not leatherworking.
January 9th, 2011 on 5:47 pm
Thanks, not sure how that change got reverted.
January 14th, 2011 on 8:11 am
The items you list for waist and neck are Dragonmaw exalted, which I think is Horde only. Am I wrong in that? And if I’m right, do you have Alliance-friendly suggestions?
Otherwise – fabulous list! Thank you for putting it together.
January 14th, 2011 on 6:22 pm
There’s identical Alliance equivalents from your vendor, I just didn’t bother listing two duplicate items.
January 19th, 2011 on 6:00 pm
I read what you were saying about the rotation – but surely refreshing DoTs (especially Moonfire/Sunfire) only at Eclipse will lessen the chances of procing Shooting Stars which gives us a juicy instant Starsurge and a massive DPS boost. I regularly use Starsurge on each c/d and keep up the DoTs to get those Shooting Star procs.
Thanks for the gear list it has been a big help in gearing up and now I’m at the raiding stage and got my first piece of T11 today hopefully there will be more to come.
Happy Raiding, Fellow Druids.
Becky
January 20th, 2011 on 8:59 am
If you are just doing a full rotation with no interruption, you should only have a few seconds of downtime after the first application.
January 20th, 2011 on 12:23 pm
With the reduction of the OH enchant by 60 points, two handed weapons may be making a come back. Are you planning to revise your list at that point?
January 20th, 2011 on 2:39 pm
I agree with that but since the duration of Eclipse is now based on the Lunar/Solar points you spend rather than time-based as it was before then how much does it hurt dps to refresh DoTs that don’t cost Solar/Lunar points the slight delay in the rotation will benefit from strong DoT’s keeping full up-time and increasing the chance of procing Shooting Stars?
I don’t know the full Maths (or Math as you Americans say) so I might be totally off the mark.
I’m constantly worried that I’m not getting as much DPS as I can potentially achieve, or at least get with the gear and enchants I have, but I follow what Elitist Jerks recommends and they advice maximising uptime of the DoTs – They also recommend Glyph of Wrath which I’m not entirely convinced by as I perferred Glyph of Starsurge.
Would appreciate any pointers you can give.
Becky
January 28th, 2011 on 12:07 pm
The Valor Point Relic: Relic of Norgannon, is available pre-raid, and for cheap (Only 10 Daily Heroics); It’s a 359 Relic as opposed to the 346 Book of the Well-Sung Song.
January 28th, 2011 on 12:34 pm
Now that we know that the 100int will be but down to 40int would a staff of any kind be a better choice as suppose to a dagger/mace with an off hand?
January 28th, 2011 on 5:09 pm
The fight is still time based.
. Basically with that method you’re going to refresh DoTs, and in about 2-3 casts, refresh them again, so you just wasted two global cooldowns to get a few extra DoT ticks.. those extra global cooldowns could have gotten you to Eclipse in the first place.
January 28th, 2011 on 5:11 pm
I’ll add another section for 2H weapons shortly.
January 29th, 2011 on 7:30 pm
http://www.wowhead.com/item=56334
those arent on list.. allthough i believe them to be better, considering the haste, its off of slabhide on heroic stonecore
March 25th, 2011 on 12:45 am
Is there an alliance equivalent for the waist?
March 25th, 2011 on 8:15 am
Firtly, thanks for the great list. If I ever see you in a random BG ill hold off my boomy fury…for a while.
Ok well on that note what does everyone think about using the 365 pvp epics for pve? Obviously these are not better than 359 pve gear but some of the 365 pvp gear is v close to the 346 pve gear.
For example:
http://www.wowhead.com/item=56277
http://www.wowhead.com/item=65602
Replacing the pve gear with pvp will result in the following stats:
+100 arm, +45 stam, +43 int, +159 haste, -114 spi,
-151 crit (161 crit including gem bonus)
I understand hit is a primary stat, but with the increased int, and better itemized haste is their a great deal of difference?
Just thinking as I have quite a lot of pvp gear – I have the 359 spelldagger which is v nice for boom and is as good as BiS imo.
Any thoughts welcome.

hi i was wondering if u recommend this trinket http://www.wowhead.com/item=68777#created-by
