Now that you’ve had a day to digest Firelands, what are your first impressions?
Do you like the new zone?
Do you like the changes made to balance druids? Did you end up dropping Lunar Shower? I know I personally saw a pretty hefty DPS increase, as I didn’t have the 4pc bonus prior to 4.2. For those who had the 4pc bonus, what happened to your DPS when 4.2 hit?
I’ve noticed this quite a bit since 4.2 launched, although primarily just in Zul’Gurub, and wanted to see if others had a problem.
Has anyone else noticed that Starfall, once again, will start randomly targeting mobs that you’re not in combat with? Where have you seen it?
I don’t plan on taking a break, but I would still love others to join Balourd and I as authors here at the Nest. I would love to have a frequent contributor who participates heavily in the PVP areas, as that’s just something I generally don’t explore. I’d also like to thank Balourd for jumping in and posting for me over the last few months while I was on a real life hiatus. The Nest is plenty big for plenty of people and their ideas, so hopefully you’ll still see more posts coming from him in the future, even with me active and posting!
First off, let me just state that I am extremely happy that we have Latin American servers, just like we have servers all over the globe.
That being said, I am absolutely sick and tired of being stuck with players from Warsong and Ragnaros when attempting to do random dungeons. I understand that Blizzard wants us to be patient with “new players”, and to “guide them”, which is why they throw everyone together into one big melting pot when pulling players for random queues. That being said, if there is a language barrier, there will be no “guidance”, as it’s impossible to communicate with the players. The Latin American servers should draw from their own, separate, pool of players, so everyone who ends up in a dungeon together can effectively communicate.
Often times you’ll get thrown into a group with multiple Latin American players, and they cannot be removed due to having reached the kick limit, so you’re forced to wipe needlessly for hours, or leave the dungeon queue. This further penalizes yourself, as often you’re waiting 30+ minutes for a queue, and now have to wait 15 minutes to requeue on top of that.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who experiences this frustration. And as I said, it’s not against the Latin American players themselves. I am happy that they can experience the same game I can, however, I think it would serve everyone’s best interest if they had their own cluster of random dungeons, so everyone can speak the same language and be on the same page.
Okay, so Wish of the Week (Abbreviated… WoW?) isn’t exactly a standard here, however I did kind of vent about one wish I’d like to see on Twitter to positive results, so I figured I’d talk about it here and get opinions.
I really wish that we had a 5 minute (or so) cooldown ability that would allow us to instantly push into the nearest Eclipse. This would alleviate a lot of issues that we see.
- Arena, where you start at 0 Eclipse and do next to no damage until you manage to Eclipse
- Changing zones, where you currently maintain your Eclipsed state, but reset to 0 energy (meaning one cast will bump you out of Eclipse)
- Death in a raid/party — currently if you die/wipe, you start out at 0 energy and no Eclipse, which means you have a pretty large ramp time to start really churning out DPS.
And should you not meet any of these previous 3 requirements, having a 5 minute cooldown where you could jump from one Eclipse instantly to another (which would be great when you have cooldowns ticking) would be a nice, small boost to DPS.
Were you happy with the first round of raids that were introduced in Cataclysm? Did you feel they were too hard, too easy, tuned just right? Did you find the heroic versions to be challenging? Wish you had more time on them before moving on to Firelands? Sound off about all of your thoughts/gripes/complaints/etc!
Am I the only one who feels lost and lonely and cold with MMO-Champion being down?

What’s your opinion of 4.2? Were the changes needed? Should more have been done?
Blizzard attempted to clarify a lot of changes to classes in 4.2 to balance them. I don’t exactly agree with the balance changes.
- We changed several Balance druid mechanics to cut down on the damage they could do while moving in both PvP and PvE and to cut back on some of their strength in multi-dot fights in PvE. Furthermore, we felt like druids were spending too much time at one end or the other of the Eclipse bar by using dots rather than moving the bar back and forth as intended.
The problem here is that the devs continue to put all of our eggs in one (Eclipse) basket. It’s been this way since Eclipse was introduced, and now, especially with the buff to mastery, it makes us desire Eclipse even further. It seems the devs are fairly non-creative when it comes to finding ways to balance our gameplay except for tweaks to Eclipse.
