Archive for December, 2010
This past year has been great, talking to so many of you. Have a great 2011!
I will be leaving tomorrow morning for a week cruise to the Bahamas… I will be without internet. I’ll try to queue some new raid guides to post while I’m gone.
See you in a week!
I’ve created a moonkin DPS rotation tutorial video. This is my first attempt at using my MacBook to capture the actual WoW video, and my first time editing together a video in this fashion. Enjoy!
I’ve penned the third installment of my raid guides, this time for Halfus Wyrmbreaker.
As always, a disclaimer: These are not “how to” guides on how to kill a boss, but mere pointers on how to maximize your utility and DPS as a balance druid.
You can access the raid guide via the ‘Moonkin Guides’ section to the right side of the page, or by clicking here.
I’ve created a tier 11 ‘BiS’ list that’s available in the Moonkin Guide section. This BiS list is unique, as due to reforging, we now have many different options available which are equally (or almost equally) as viable. I’ve listed multiple items for almost every slot, with the first items listed being the most preferred. Remember, with reforging almost anything becomes viable!
You can access the list under Moonkin Guides on the right, or by clicking here.
A few people recently have asked for a screenshot of my U/I, and I also promised a picture of me riding the drake from Al’akir. Here’s both! For those wanting to know what Add-Ons I use, I use the LUI interface (www.wow-lui.com) with a few small additions (such as Bankstack). I bounce back and forth between bossmods, trying to find the most up to date set. I’m currently using Bigwigs. The window to the right of the chatwindow is for Omen.
I’ve taken some time to update the BiS list, often listing multiple items for some of the slots. Given the fluidity of hit through reforging, I’ve found some additional gear. I’ve still avoided gear that’s blatantly resto (ie: Spirit/Mastery).
It’s about the time of year again when I renew the hosting for another year. As you may have noticed, I’ve recently posted a ‘Donate Now’ button on the right hand side of the page, for those who may be able to contribute. I also plan on showing my appreciation by granting @owlkin.org e-mail addresses to those who are able to donate $5 or more to the ‘Nest. These e-mail addresses are great to use to consolidate all of your gaming e-mail/registration/etc in one place, and can be accessed via POP3, IMAP, or via the Web. (I use my Owlkin.org for all forum registrations, etc, in lieu of giving out a personal e-mail address).
As a reminder, any proceeds above and beyond the hosting expenses get re-invested into the blog, either in upgrades or giveaways.
From the World of Warcraft blog, the following changes are being planned for the next patch (ETA unknown):
- We’re making some additional buffs, such as Pain Suppression and Barkskin, undispellable.
- We’re buffing Wild Mushroom. It’s a cool spell that isn’t getting enough play.
I think both of these are very important changes. I don’t think this is going to fix the PVP issues for balance, but I know Wild Mushroom needed some work in both the PvP and PvE environments.
I took some time today from stuffing myself with stocking stuffers to complete my Magmaw raid guide. As a reminder, these are not your generic “how-to” boss strategies, but more tips on how to stay alive and maximize your DPS and raid contribution as a balance druid.
You can navigate to the raid guide via the links on the right hand side of the blog, or by clicking here.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Nest!
You may notice some things changing around the ‘Nest over the next few weeks and months. I’ve upgraded the mobile blog theming to WPtouch Pro, and once the new moonkin graphics are finalized, I plan on commissioning Andrige for an upgraded theme.
Between these costs as well as the site maintenance, I spend a hundred dollars or more yearly to keep the Nest up and running. You may have noticed that I’ve (begrudgingly) added Google AdSense hosting on the blog. Please take time and visit our sponsors. I’ve also included a ‘Donation’ link to the bottom of the sidebar. Not only will these donations and ad revenue help with the upkeep of the blog, they’ll allow me to host more giveaways like we had last year when a Pandaren Monk was given to a lucky winner!
I hope to have a few more moonkin raid guides up this week. The first week of the new year things will be rather quiet as I will be cruising around the Caribbean on a Carnival Cruise.
Hope Santa brought everything you wanted!
