Have you ever felt like you’re being punished for keeping a gemmed, enchanted, well geared resto set? We’ve had a high turnover of healers lately, especially resto druids, but after a few weeks of being sent resto, it gets old. Have you ever noticed people don’t expect feral druids, enhancement shaman, or retribution paladins to keep a resto/holy set? It seems like the only classes who really ever get shoved into it are balance druids and shadow priests. I rarely (if ever) even see our elemental shaman spec resto. Sometimes I consider just destroying my resto gear. Are any of the rest of you in this same situation?
The loot gods smiled at me tonight in Trial of the Crusader, and I was able to pick up [item]47422[/item], and then by virtue of being the only druid in the raid, I picked up [item]47438[/item]. I think this puts me at 9 slots BiS towards my T8/T9 BiS list. I’m hoping for [item]47469[/item] next. The non-leather pieces, (ring, cloak, trinkets) are going to be the hardest to pick up.
Not much more to update on [npc]34564[/npc]. Still struggling in phase 3, or more recently, even getting to phase 3. After looking at our own parses and other guilds parses who’ve killed him, this just doesn’t seem to be a good fight for moonkin dps. I think our best option is to stay on Anub’arak, and only AoE when adds are up right after he burrows, but that still keeps me in the bottom quartile.
A friend of mine, Firstaidspec from Blood Legion (US-Illidan) sent me an AddOn he had written for phase 3 Anub’arak. It displays the absolute health of all those in raid below 1500hp. Bind it to “Center Text 2″, and if you have anything bound to Center Icon, consider moving it to side icons with an addon similar to GridIndicatorSideIcons. Hopefully this, along with a [spell]Healing Stream Totem[/spell] and occaisional [spell]Holy Nova[/spell] will help you keep your healers alive during [spell]Leeching swarm[/spell].
You can download it here.
I’ve drafted a moonkin guide for ToC BiS, but I really would like your input into it. It’s done from a Horde point of view, and includes a few different gear combinations. The BiS guide is available to the right under “Moonkin Guides”, or you can click here.
I’m not going to keep updating whenever another 500 people keep viewing, but 3 weeks ago when I started writing, I never thought anyone would bother reading, and I’ve been tracking views for a week now, and as of today we’ve broken 1000 views. I said earlier I had planned on a small surprise for a few people, and there’s two which I’ve offered them to. Both Lenwë and Xiera have commented on multiple posts of my blog, and I’ve given them both @owlkin.org e-mail addresses. I know a lot of you have come here via Google or other search engines. If there’s anything you’d like me to enhance upon, please let me know via comment or e-mail!
Apparently your raid lock-outs no longer reset upon transferring servers. This is most likely due to certain guilds (such as Ensidia) which decided to server transfer to regain 50 more attempts at heroic Anub’arak.
If you plan on server transferring, do it early in the week!
I’ve updated the moonkin guide for rating values to include Graylo’s most recent stat -> spellpower conversion numbers. I’ve also written a brief guide on gem choices. Please feel free to comment on both of them.
I’ve always been curious to see my DPS on Patchwerk. When I was at the end of raiding Naxx25, my best DPS output was about 5800 DPS (with [spell]Power Infusion[/spell] and [item]Potion of Speed[/item]). I took the chance today to join a pug and do Naxx25 today, and I was surprised by the result. I knew my DPS had obviously increased with the gear I have now, but as fights continuously get harder (and more mobile), there’s no real decent metric in our current content to compare against Patchwerk. I didn’t have PI, nor did I pop potions for this kill.
I’ve added a few more guides, including talents, dps rotation, and rating values. As always, I’m not claiming any of this to be gospel, just my opinion as I’ve ascended the ranks of a raiding moonkin. Please feel free to browse them and provide your input. Thanks!
